Shang Qinghua: Freaking out!! He thought SQQ was dead and that his story would be utterly in shambles, only to suddenly hear through the grapevine he’s not! He goes and visits him in recovery and SQQ knows he’s a transmigrator and yells at him for the Mobei Jun incident, almost sending himself into a qi deviation before SQH is banned from SQQ’s house for the time being lmao

Liu Qingge: Is the one that found him unconscious at Qing Jing’s entrance. there was an over all feeling of relief and grief at the same time. On one hand the man who saved his life and countless others was alive. On the other hand his shixiong had went through countless horrors, had his honor stripped from him and looks like he barely survived. He wishes he could’ve gone after him, he wishes that he could’ve protected SQQ better, he wishes he got to that fight before without a cure infected him. He takes his time to bask in the man’s presence now though, just to admire how strong his shixiong is

Yue Qingyuan: This wet dog of a man never stopped looking for his Shidi…. Even through questionable channels. Hey! If you came across a heavenly demon that yea was supposed to be dead BUT ISNT wouldn’t you want to ask him for help to rescue someone that is so far out of your reach. (Sorry ZSL) Once he finally realized that he’s back home he’s flooded with so much relief he just conks out in the middle of work

Mu Qingfang: ‘oh fuck oh fuck SO many heart demons what the FUCK oh god his meridians- are somehow better??? Why does he have demonic, human and celestial qi- what the fuck what happened- oh my goodness so much shit healed wrong’ <-internal thoughts, in reality is completely silent as he works to heal the unconscious man and make sure he doesn’t die in the first few days of being back home

Various disciples of QJ: all want to swarm the man and get/give affection but they don’t want to overwhelm him so they make up a schedule of who gets to keep him company while he recovers (LBH is always there and then one or two others come) A lot of them cried when someone passes out the various booklets, letters of invitation and advice to them, realizing that their shizun thought he was going to die at some point and prepared this in advance

And finally. The boy~!

Luo Binghe: He felt so much anguish as he watched his teacher fall. He couldn’t go after the man that had protected him and taught him. Most of his days on QJ were spent as a blur, trying to keep some semblance of normality as he kept the bamboo house spotless, made sure all the disciples were cared for and made the sword mound in his Shizun’s offer. At the steps of the sword mound so many foods, trinkets, fans, small weapons and jewelry rotted and rusted away. Once SQQ came back to the hut LBH weeped. He made the man tea and foods easy on the stomach, carefully attending him. He wanted to cry when he saw his Shizun’s hair, the man had given up ever returning. He became x10 sticker as a result and was insistent on staying by his side.

The Gumshoe: A homebrew class for Fabula Ultima

Down these mean streets a man must go who is not himself mean, who is neither tarnished nor afraid. He is the hero; he is everything. He must be, to use a rather weathered phrase, a man of honor—by instinct, by inevitability, without thought of it, and certainly without saying it. He must be the best man in his world and a good enough man for any world. -Raymond Chandler.

So yeah I made a fatal mistake and got distracted and so started writing a homebrew class that may or may not at some point become part of a larger homebrew "Urban Fantasy Atlas" for Fabula Ultima.

So classes in Fabula Ultima consist of 3 things:

Four questions your character should answer the develop your background,

A permanent bonus or two- generally to Hit points, magic points, or inventory points, the ability to equip certain types of gear, or the ability to undertake long term free form effects like projects or rituals using the ritualism discipline.

5 skills: Some with multiple levels, some without. There should be more levels of skills available than you can get- each class caps out at 10 levels, which means more than 10 ranks of skills.

The gumshoe is designed with urban fantasy campaigns in mind, because detective is such an archetype for the genre, and while you can conceivably build one out of other classes (as for example, I already did) it could probably benefit from a specific class and it'd be pretty easy to ask those questions and make those skills, I think.

So first, we start with the questions:

1: What was your first big case? Do you regret how it turned out?

2: What first made you doubt authority?

3: What incident still haunts you- was it after you started working cases or is it what kicked it off?

4: If a leggy dame wearing a hat with a veil walked into your office right now and begged you for help, would you take the case? Would you admit you were a sucker for doing so?

Permanently increase your maximum Hit Points by 5.

Skills:

Down These Mean Streets

When making a check for any kind of investigation or legwork, you can turn failure into triumph. A failed roll on a simple or opposed check will grant you an opportunity, even if you don't find out what you want. For a clock, you'll always fill in one section no matter how badly you roll. This comes at a cost- you'll take damage to HP equal the amount you failed by, either by stretching yourself thin or maybe the opportunity comes by way of someone roughing you up for asking too many questions.

Hip Flask [+3]

You have a trusty flask of some sort of awful rotgut that you always have available. Reduce to the IP cost for producing a Potion with Inventory points by SL, to a minimum of 1. You can sacrifice this ability until the next time you refresh inventory points to reduce damage from a single attack by (5+SL)X10, as the blow damages the flask but leaves you mostly unscathed.

Two-Fisted [+5]

When benefiting from two-weapon fighting, your high roll only counts as zero for one attack, not both. Add SL to accuracy for both attacks.

The City is a Lover [+3]

When you're in a big city, you know how to talk to it, and it talks back. You may ask SL questions about the city or the people who live there, and the GM will answer them honestly.

The Easy Way or the Hard Way

Sometimes the easiest way to get information is to let yourself get worked over. The first time you hit crisis in a scene with an intelligent enemy, gain the faux pas opportunity as they let something important slip. You also gain this opportunity if you're forced to surrender and are captured.

Here's a story for y'all🤠

Everyone was having fun. Julie and Frank were talking to flowers and Eddie and Poppy were making strawberry muffins. Barnaby was helping out in the bodega. He was going to help Sally with her play but she didn't want his help. Home was busy too. All he had to do was to draw. Five minutes later he felt a bit dizzy. He went to bed and soon enough he was asleep. Usually his dreams are like always, having adventures and learning new lessons like always. This was very, very different. His friends were gone and it was very strange. He glitched out and a computer like voice came from inside him it said,

I'm sorry, Wally doesn't exist. Please call again later...

Of course he existed. Why would be here if he didn't? He woke up very scared. Everybody was finish with their work, except for Howdy of course. Everybody was so worried! He hasn't answered the door in 3 hours! Before they left Wally woke up and answered the door. Poppy was the most worried and was more worried than ever! Howdy rushed over and finally gave him an apple on the house. Wally apologized for not answering the door. He told them about his dream and they were very scared. He asked them a question...

They told him that it was probably just a weird dream he had. He would never hurt his friends. He went back to sleep. He had the same weird dream again. But it was little bit...different. This time he was a computer with a demonic like voice. This time it said,

I'm sorry for what I have done,my friends. It was just a thought and then a nightmare come true. I'm really sorry Julie, Frank, Barnaby and all the others. I'm sorry x10

Wally woke in fear once again. He didn't notice that Sally was waiting at the door. Sally was finished with her script and wanted him to star in the play! He was honored and filled with joy. He played the part of the knight in shining armor. Julie was in a colorful dress and butterflies fluttered around her. She was the princess in the play. Frank was the king of the fun, colorful kingdom. Butterflies fluttered all around the kingdom with happiness. Wally was wonderful with his lines. Everyone was amazed at Wally's singing aswell. The day had passed and the sunset came down. The ending and the sunset was beautiful. Julie complimented Sally endlessly for her play. Frank was impressed by Wally. Everyone clapped and sounded like a thousand waves breaking. The day was over and everyone went home with joy. Except for Wallyfor he was still very afraid of what he might dream of. The next day everybody was refreshed more than ever thinking about the play. However, Wally was so tired they almost didn't recognize him. He was up all night in fear that he might actually hurt his friends. They wanted to play with him. He politely declined though. He didn't want to hurt them. They were all worried. Barnaby told them there was nothing they can do but comfort him. Unluckily for them the door was locked. They just chose to leave him alone.

Welp that's the end of the story this is a series so expect more in the future. I'm probably gonna make an au out of this so til next time! ❤️

Wolf Mosaic Baby Afghan

A Special Gift: Ashton’s Wolf Pattern Now Free

Sometimes a pattern isn’t just stitches and yarn—it’s a little piece of your heart woven into every square. That’s how I feel about this wolf afghan pattern I originally made for my grandson, Ashton Wolfe.

Ashton has been in the NICU for about 5 weeks now, and as of this writing, we’re hoping he’ll finally get to go home to his mom and dad in February 2025. The strength and resilience this little boy has already shown reminds me of the quiet strength of a wolf—strong, protective, and full of spirit.

To honor Ashton and share a bit of his story, I’ve decided to make this pattern free on the website. It’s my way of spreading a little love and hope to you all, just as Ashton has brought so much love into our lives.

Whether you’re making this blanket for someone special or just because you love wolves, I hope it brings warmth, comfort, and joy—just like I imagine it will for Ashton one day when he’s wrapped up in his very own afghan.
